I know it's not much of a deal, but I used this tool kit [amazon.com] when wiring my house with CAT6. I didn't have any of the tools needed to do the work, so this was a nice all in one kit. Everything worked perfectly.
  • Crimp tool has the cutter for pass through cables. I've never terminated RJ45 before, so this made it super easy.
  • The tester worked great for all my runs, not a single issue on any of them (average run was about 50 feet). Don't use those rechargeable lithium batteries for it though, sensitive electronics don't work right with them.
  • The punch down tool is pretty cheap, but I didn't have a single issue with any of my keystones. Each one punched in perfectly. It doesn't cut the excess wiring like some of the nicer tools do, but it was easy enough to just snip them off with a pair of flush cut snips.
Again, I know it's not a deal, but this was a really nice kit for my use case and I would recommend it.

Would this be good for a ferrule? Im doing some steel cable DIY and need to crimp the end but not sure if this would work for aluminum.
No. Absolutely note. This crimper is only for RJ45 network connectors.

So you only bought the first simple one and it worked well enough for you?

I purchased one that's not mentioned in this deal. The one I linked is a completely different unit as it has the pass through crimp tool, a punch down tool, a cable tester, and RJ45 heads and strain relief jackets.

I just wanted to share a positive experience I had with the tool kit I used. Even though it's not really a deal, it's still a decent price. I thought it was going to be junk and fail after a few uses, but it worked perfectly for my use case and continues to work to this day.
