This is more of a premium gaming laptop. Not your typical asus tuf or hp omen class. Its more in line with razerblade macbook build quality

I just grabbed one at BB for $1500 w/ no charger. Thought it might be a great deal but I'm reading it's a mixed bag. I'll be comparing it to the 5070ti that went on sale. Not a fan of the screen on that one and figured this could be a good compromise. We'll see. I might end up returning both and waiting for a better 5070ti config.

Its a great laptop for that price with the more premium feel. I have this one and also bought the rtx 5070ti that went on sale. If this is going to be your main keep it since you have a premium screen on this one and not have to add an external monitor.

We are in the same boat it appears. Appreciate your suggestion and so far I'm loving it. I've been reading a lot since I pulled the trigger and it's somewhat of a mixed bag but overall it seems to be a pretty popular laptop w/ generally good reviews. I was a little hesitant about the intel processor tbh. Most would prefer the AMD equivalent including myself, but at least it's not getting completely panned from what I can see. The screen is clearly on a different level and I agree about the premium feel. The Strix feels a little over the top and bulky in comparison, but I could probably live with. I definitely prefer the Zephyrus in looks and feel though. I was unaware Asus moved away from the barrel charger in 2024, so I can't really test this thing out myself. Hopefully the one I'm overnighting isn't a fire hazard.
Are you evaluating the 2 laptops? What's your general take on the long term value of the 4080 vs 5070ti?

A premium laptop that's prone to screen cracking from opening the lid.....HARD PASS. Look up "G16 cracked screen"

I don't think that it's common though.

To be completely honest, I love them both. The rtx 4080 is more powerful but not by much, where it shines is the resolution and screen that comes with it. with the rtx 5070ti deal I will be upgrading the ram and adding ssd, a cooling pad like the Llano is also a must.
I will be doing some evaluation but until they are evenly matched by the upgrades. My take on those laptops is like what i said before, if this is your main then just keep it for the nice screen and rtx 4080 performance.

I have bestbuy total that will take care of that in case something like that happens, laptops all have their problems but in exchange of portability and size.

If gaming on the go is what you want, heed this. This laptop has a TGP limit of 115W. It is a very nice laptop but that limit is hindering it max potential. If I didn't recently purchased the Legion 7i w/ 4070 posted here, I would definitely consider this machine.

Last time I brought the Asus Zenbook S16 to BB to repair the screen. They said 3 weeks. 3 weeks later, they just issued me the gift card to get another one.

Yea, not having a high regard for BB to fix Asus screen.

I have that laptop, and to open the screen it feels a little stiff so it's best to do it in a slower manner. I'd imagine people who whip it open fast are probably why they end up getting a crack
