I was an avid gamer as a teenager but haven't touched a video game in over 6 years. Is BG3 worth it? BG1 and BG2 were probably my favorite games in high school. But I feel like I may be too old for new generation RPGs. I just miss isometric and story heavy gameplay.

If you liked dragon age origins, this is the game for you.
If you liked FFT, this is the game for you
If you liked divinity or baldurs gate series, well obviously you'd have played this game
If you play D&D, this is the game for you
It's worth at $60, it's worth at $45. It's still getting story updates and rule refreshes from 5e official material.

This is a good game. Caveat: BG3 is WOKE. Big time. If that perturbs you, be aware and ready to find "the message" injected into what should be a fantasy video game. Just my opinion. That said, it's a role playing game and it's a good game at that - you can choose to participate in Larian's 'theology' or not. It's worth it, that said.

What ever happened to good, old-fashioned Christian values in my completely made up fantasy worlds?
Could not get into this game regretting spending 50$
What was it about it that you couldn't get into? I have tried a number of D&D based games over the course of my life and just couldn't hooked on any of them. Now-a-days, right off the bat they have way too much customization in just creating your character and the options to pick. I get bored before the game even begins...
I wanted to like divinity 2, but couldn't really get into it. There ended up being too much going on too quickly, interface wasn't intuitive to use, and maybe too much reading. Is BG3 like that too? or are there enough QOL updates and easier for mainstream gamers to get into it more easily?

this is not a new generation rpg. the term they coin these types of rpg's now is crpg, basically classic rpg's which are like the first fallout, previous baldur's gate games and the relatively recent divinity games. this game is strictly not an action based and not targeted for the tiktok generation. the story is great and everything but i think the only weak point, i find in this game is how some of the characters from the previous baldur's gate stories ended up and the lack of focus on some of them.

i think the heavy influence of dnd is what made the game seem woke. keep in mind that dnd has been woke even before the word woke or the message became talking points of the critical drinker, shapiro, fuentes or any other personalities. and yeah woke would be an understatement since this game lets you build relationships not just with the different genders and races but also with various species or even beings of different planes of existence.
it's nice that you still gave the game a fair chance and appreciated it for what it is despite the woke tag.
