Very niche size, but I have had one of these for a few years and find it incredibly useful and convenient. Works great for melting/browning butter, making sauces, toasting pine nuts and other things, etc.

I do not see benefits in this thing being 3-ply bonded. Only if you have a collection and want to have everything to be consistent. Otherwise, just plain stainless steel should work exactly the same.

Is it really any more functional at this size for those tasks than a one or two quart pan though?
I have a tiny AC pot that I found at Home Goods (or Marshall's or TJ Maxx, same thing). I had to buy it to match the rest of my AC, but it's also really useful. Did NOT pay $53 though, which is absurd. Mine is just plain stainless, not 3-ply. I think mine might even be 1/2 this size.
I've had more use out of it than I expected. Melting butter is an obvious one (though I typically use my AC stainless measuring cups -- better size for just a couple Tbsp of butter), but it's also great for adding oil, butter, garlic, and herbs to make garlic bread. Plus, if you're cooking for 1-2, it's the right size for heating pasta sauce.
