Disagree. Look at the reviews. This is rated for 300 pounds but nobody heavier than an 8-12 year old should even bother trying to use it safely

Wait...what?!? It is rated UP TO 300 pounds. So should be able to hold far more than that ..just isn't "rated" (for liability purposes) for anything beyond that.

Not to mention, what 12 year old weighs 300 pounds?

FWIW most of the bad reviews (which aren't shipping damage related) seem to suggest the people didn't have the basic skills needed to assemble. Lots of talk about trouble installing, taking "4 hours to assemble," drilling "extra holes," etc....huge red flags those reviews should be taken with a grain of salt.

I have two of these, each different brands. One has a thicker frame and the other looks similar to the one in OP, but with a wraparound desk. The problem I have with them is that they are very wobbly unless you strap the top to at least one wall.

Also, be mindful of the height of the top rails. I had to get thinner mattresses (decent options from IKEA) so I don't have to worry about the kids rolling and falling off the side.

Otherwise, these loft beds are great for kids/teens because the amount of floor space is made available to them.

Don't forget to add the weight of mattress, bedding, pillows and anything else you're setting on there. Round numbers of 200 pound kid + 100 pound mattress seem like it'd still be plenty, but not if your kid is taking others up there.

Just be sure to tell your puberty stricken kids that if they take their bf or gf up there the bed WILL break. Now the weight limit is a feature for caring parents, not a hinderance.

How do your kids like the ladder? The steps seem too thin to be pleasant to climb up. I was thinking of attaching some wood planks to it to widen the area.

when my kids had a similar Style bed we ended up putting boards under the mattress. now ask for the weight limit when they have friends up there it's a good idea to know just how many friends can be allowed up there. one more thing think about ceiling fans. I ended up grabbing some end Shelf chip bag grid basically it's just a wire grid that was a neat color. and then I mounted it to the ceiling and shaped it around the ceiling fan so they wouldn't get Rowdy and hit it. it's also good to know about the weight limit if you inevitably have to go up there and clean up some sort of mess. if you put a computer underneath that thing I recommend getting some sort of remote desktop because it's not a very comfortable place for an adult to be. the "best for getting the kids ready for prison" this is kind of what they have in college so it's a weird comment. I pay attention to the ladder position I'm not sure if it's reversible I don't remember it was too long ago. if you don't want it covered in stickers make sure you make that rule ahead of time, and offer like a magnet as an alternative maybe get some blank magnets I won't be as good as wrapping a sticker around the pole but it's better than nothing. overall I definitely thought I was a good idea and I would do it again

yes I have one too and it's wobbly. I drilled new holes to lock it it the wall at two points

I had one of these in college. It may have been a different manufacturer but if could handle a couple adults up there with no issues.

You can probably just add some pool noodle to the ladder if you think it is too thin to climb....but generally speaking it shouldn't be too bad for a kid.

Very wobbly and weak. Sufficient for a small child. I personally felt like it was cheap garbage, but I was raised in a solid wood twin bunk bed set I could climb on top of however I pleased. This set shall offer so such solidarity or confidence

I agree it's very wobbly. I was initially thinking perhaps I had not tightened the screws enough and checked all of them again but it still wobbles. Reading the above comment helps confirm. Any other tips to prevent wobbling besides drilling holes through it into the wall?
