Real friends don't let their friends install tamper resistant. If you've got small children use the plastic caps. Fighting to get every plug inserted is a needless frustration.

Agree but also iirc tamper resistant is required by NEC now if that's important (it's getting inspected or installed by a licensed electrician)

Tamper resistant plugs are a pain in the butt at first. The shutters really resist any plug being put in but after like 12 or so uses, it's easier with some resistance.

Same price at Homedepot.com

https://www.homedepot.com/p/Levit.../100357041

Only $5.60/pack if you don't want the decora (square edge) shape

Edit: I was wrong, the tamper resistant is a different sku and is $22.78. My bad.

I agree. However, Levitron makes the Lever Edge only in tamper resistant for some reason. The connectors are significantly easy to connect and lock compared to everything else. That's the only reason why I use them.

As far as I recall the 15 amp outlets are generally approved and suitable to be used on 20 amp circuits with 12ga wiring for residential purposes.

It's not a big deal tbh. We've had these installed through our new build. Bought this brand at HomeDepot specifically because they are made in USA. I've never had an issue with the tamper resistant variety and they really aren't that hard to plug in for me or others. They were required by code. Plus the added benefit of tamper resistant is sometimes when you plug stuff in like chargers, vacuum or clothes iron there is a spark with a typical plug. Now with Tamper resistant I've never had this arc.

That's my understanding as well - they are rated for 20A passthrough.

I installed some of the tamper resistant Lever Edge in my garage and the plug just takes a slight wiggle to get it to seat in the outlet. I wouldn't hesitate to use tamper resistant in future based on my experience so far.

People complaining about tamper proof sockets must have the original versions. I've installed a bunch in the past 5 years and never had a problem. The only complaints I hear come from the boomer grandparents 😂😂
