If you plan on having a second kid, try to get gender neutral stuff and save (anything worth saving) as they grow out of it for the next kid.
When you are done with baby stuff pay it forward and give it to someone having their first.
Also, diaper vault: every paycheck buy the box of diapers with the cheapest unit price (take the cost/divide by how many in the box) Get a few boxes of each size Newborn-4. We had about 10,000 diapers for the first one, which saved our butts as we had little money with maternity leave and medical bills. We didn't need diapers for the first year. I recommend Huggies, but each kid's butt is different. Each sealed unused box that's a size now too small, you can trade at most stores for the next size up. That's why the number of diapers is different for each size but the price is the same. Target had to stop doing this due to theft or something so check with the store before you buy.
Get a container of formula. Breast Milk is best milk, but not all kids breast feed well, not all breasts can produce enough. It's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. Breast feeding is harder than it looks, don't let people shame you for not being able to. Also my second kid was HELL on those nipples, so I said, "No dude, that's MY playground!" so we decided to pump. Many companies will send you monthly coupons for formula if you sign up for them. If they are used, they will send more. Our kid didn't like a brand of formula we had coupons for and our friends had the same issue with their kid, so we traded coupons and because they were used, more were sent and traded every month.
Sorry if this was long but, having a kid is complicated and expensive, especially now in hard times. 🙂

NEVER use a used car seat for your kid in your car especially if it's been in a car accident, unless you have absolutely no other choice. Kid car seats are designed to be tossed after an accident, never reused or resold for safety reasons. But you can trade it in at Target for this coupon. They disassemble and recycle some parts, some are trashed.

I find them thrown out fairly often and save the not gross ones. You can also find a cheap one at a yard sale, but do the math before hand. Hand me downs could also work.NEVER use a used car seat for your kid in your car especially if it's been in a car accident, unless you have absolutely no other choice. You find Uppababy products thrown out often? But yeah, I'm not looking to actually use a used item here, just to trade in for the coupon (if it makes sense here).
