is it Bluetooth or do you have to buy the RX unit to use it with an iPhone
Need the RX unit. It will pair to DJI's eco-system devices (Osmo 7P, Action 4 & 5, Pocket 3) without an RX unit, but to connect to phones you will need it.
careful with this...if you end up needing support, given the tariff war, they may not stand by it. My husband has a drone and bought the 2 year warranty (Fly Away), reddit is full of info about them reneging on support for them...you can't even buy their drones on their website anymore, all show as out of stock in the US. My guess is that they are blowing out whatever stock they have left in the US.
You really need to make sure it's compatible with the camera you're using. I have an Insta360 One R and the sound quality over the BT connection is terrible, but it's also not listed as a compatible mic on Insta360's website, so there's that. I should probably try it with the transmitter.
I use one of these with my Canon R6. The receiver slides into the hot shoe and it's hooked up to the camera via 3.5mm. I have 2 transmitters and you can have each of them record mono so when my 2 kids play together I can have each of them wear a mic and get their audio on separate channels. I haven't had any issues with mine, but I also haven't used it a ton at this point. The magnets work great though and the mics are pretty small overall.
