Does this have mechanical or hydraulic brakes?
- NVM, Amazon photos show mechanical

And is the battery lockable to the frame?

See how easy to setup. I made a time lapse video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rtee69JZXRE
Super helpful, thank you for your set-up video and the other ones as well! I believe I'm going to wait and see if it comes down to $320 on Amazon – I just think I'd rather buy there for a quick return if I get a dud. But who knows if it'll ever come back down that low… i've walked the beach off the great highway maybe 1000 times in my childhood through high school before I moved away, and then returned over the years while my parents were still there. How are you enjoying Sunset Dunes?

I have to admit, it feels like a moped in traffic. You can use throttle from stop to get to 15-20 easily and on flats you can do 20mph+ like a car.
Fyi, the laws on class4 ebikes also apply to any bike that can exceed 20mph on throttle power alone. So someone zipping along at 20+ on the flats without pedaling can be targeted by cops for riding an e-moped.

My bike does not turn on. I tried taking the battery off and putting it back on but still no go. I emailed support and have not received a response after 24 hours. Anyone have any tips or suggestions?
Make sure the battery is inserted enough that the key can be turned all the way to the ON position. Press the button on top of the battery to make sure it shows power. If still no response plug the charger in for a few seconds then pop it out and see if that awakens the battery BMS.

Mine shows 30%, but the base price at the site through R is $420… I can't get the $320 price as with the SD link…
Edit: what do you know, it's down to 2% 🙄

It is also bike manufacturers eho are trying to slip by old moped laws based on engine size (i.e. 25cc). Since gas motors are noisy and too big to hide, its easy enough to differentiate between bicyclist and moped. But ebikes have concealed motors and are quiet.

New moped laws were revised to be power-based. 750W is about 1hp. So anything with 1hp or less is a form of bicycle and things with more than 750W are clearly mopeds.

Where the law is stoooopid is the class3 ebike, which has 750W but can go over 20mph on pedal assist and is only half-banned (can use roads but not sidewalks or paths, doesnt need a license but often requires riders to be 14yro+). That's just a delineation too far. Should have gone with 750W or motor operates above 20mph.
You can buy a gun, but you shouldn't use the gun to hunt people unless there is a war. Stupid bureaucrats create stupid rules to help special interest groups. Commonsense dictates that one should not drive at a speed that's unsafe, but there are plenty of people who drive at highway speed with 2 or less car length gap.

do you work for Slickdeals or the bike company? seems like you're defending them pretty aggressively. But here is the UL 2271 certification for e bike batteriesUL 2271 | UL Standards & Engagement | UL Standard https://share.google/j6NXH3UqO7vEBs1aP
Don't work for anyone. Just have a lot of design experience.

Read the fine prints:

1.2 This standard does not evaluate the performance or reliability of these devices.

Pay some $ to get a cert, but the cert does not ensure that the product cannot fail. There are many variable that cause a battery to fail/explode. Number one cause is excessive voltage, current, and heat generated during charging. These variables are controlled by the charger. A good designer will also add sensors to monitor battery temperature. Fast charging is convenient for the user. Downside is lower safety factor and reduced battery life.

I've been tinkering with lithium ion and lithium polymer batteries of all sorts for scooters /model aircraft. Most of the home made packs are always charged in fire proof containers or fire safe places like inside oven or fireplace. UL certification is great for a peace of mind but the certification process isn't cheap. So expect to pay a lot more for UL certified bike with reputable name backing.

Fyi - any ebike with more than 750W of motors is a class4 e-bike. This is an electric off-road moped.

Class 4 are forbidden on roads, sidewalks, multi-use trails and only to be used on unpaved off-road trails. Some states require a license and registration to use class4 bikes on the road.

https://bikexchange.com/electric-bike-classes/
The 750W limit is based on nominal rating for continuous output. All of the bike companies are gaming the rules and usually under-advertise their motor capability to qualify for sale as Class 2 or 3. This company just hasn't gotten the memo.

I ordered it from Amazon for $199, waited almost a month & it didn't come. The manufacturer kept saying it would.

If you wait till Black Friday, there will probably be another cashback promo at the rack. I'm sure Ali will bring out more coupons too. Good luck!
