I use these on an internal door that shuts automatically without a doorstop in the way, and I want it left open most of the time.

The best method is to purposefully misalign the two pieces (so the door piece hits the outer crest of the wall part), because if it interfaces directly in the middle, it's actually a bit too strong.

I use a similar one to this that I paid $16 and it had bad adhesive too. I simply put it on some Gorilla Tape on the door side, which usually doesn't have screws, and problem solved.

correct,CI for multiple and the adhesive sucks. both failed quickly on a hardwood floor. I screwed them into the floor with 2 screws and washers to resolve.

I bought a similar one that looks the same but a different color. I used the adhesive but also used screws to mount it to the wall. It really holds the door tight. We actually have to try and pull the door off the wall now. We live in an old house where not every wall and floor is perfectly level so this was a lifesaver since our front mudroom door always swung mostly closed on it's own.
