These are unnecessary. I've lived my entire life in northern Michigan, where temps frequently fall below 0 degrees F, and very few people here use them. I've been in my house with two faucets for 35 years and not had any issues by not using them.

I'm in sunny California and use something similar (but way cheaper) to stop black widows from nesting inside

That said I cannot imagine people paying >$1 for these covers. Granted I'm really cheap and I use the caps from propane bottles people throw away while camping
