How do they get away to charging so much for a nas? I bought a N150 mini pc with 4 nvme slots for only $180 and it had more ram than this. The N100 is overkill for a mechanical disk nas anyway.

it does not have a native Plex app, but many of us do run Plex in a docker container and it runs very well. it does have a native jellyfin app.

Load TrueNAS on it and you will have no trouble running Plex.

I got the DXP4800 Plus. Really nice NAS box, uGreen's software is a bit lacking but they are updating it regularly. However there is a concern about how it hits Chinese servers with it's software (not looking to start a fight). But the good news is, the hardware is unlocked and you can install TrueNas, Open Media Vault, Proxmox or whatever software you like.

Also this 2 bay has a 2.5GbE, the 4 bay version has 2.5 and 10GbE. So you can really take advantage of that if you want faster speeds.

Another option is buy an N150 motherboard with six sata ports, 16GB ram stick, power supply, and a case and you'll have a six bay NAS for around the same price.

I have no trouble running Plex through docker. I find find the UGOS operating system much more intuitive than Truenas. The only reason I would consider Truenas is on a larger unit with more drive bays, to use ZFS. this is a solid Nas and will suit most people well to run a few containers and basic nas functions. I had the 4800+ and liked it a lot. but I needed to reduce some of my devices so I kept this one and sold the 4800+ because this fits my needs.

I just got one of these a couple of days ago.
My first real NAS -- if you don't count the super inexpensive, plugging a USB HDD into my TP-Link router's USB3 port. And sharing with their, built-in "ReadyShare" s/w.

Had lots of trouble getting Kodi 17.6 on my Fire TV 4K, connected to my new NAS via SMB.
And I still can't get Kodi 18.9 on my Fire TV 4K MAX, connected.

Am I missing something? Is there a better way?
Any tips appreciated.

9/17 EDIT: I updated Kodi from v18.9 to the latest v21.2, and my Fire TV 4K MAX connected easily to uGreen NAS.

A lot of the value is in stuff other than just the hardware. Ex. the software, the warranty, the mobile app, the ongoing development work..

Can someone comment on the quality of the RAID controller on this? Is the SW solid? Basically is the RAID1 config of this as good as Synology?

That's the main reason I'm interested, if its actually better than a used desktop PC

i like this NAS a lot. Looks and runs great, nice build quality too. I'm running Plex out of a docker (which I was new to). I didn't use the official docker image since I ran into errors, and instead went with the Linux server image. I'm getting 4 simultaneous 4k transcode out of it, and it barely uses uses any wattage. I considered getting a mini PC, but few support traditional mechanical hard drives, and equally few I felt like I could trust to be reliable and supported.

Showing as $320 now, but I see you can get a bundle with an ethernet cord for $301
