Don't be fooled by the cheap hardware costs. The subscription, which is pretty much required, adds up to a LOT over time.

I just moved from Arlo cameras to hardwired Annke cameras and I love them so far. No subscription and local recording. Really great video quality. I'm happy with them!

Arlo is the worse choice, if not the worst. I used one set before, after trial period, it pushed to buy its subscription, otherwise pretty much useless, nothing can be used. Then I use blink, which may not be the best. but it does not require subscription, use local microsd recording is fine. It uses 2 AA batteries. Does requires changing batteries about every 2-3 months. Indoor, I used tp link tapo cameras, so far so good. DO NOT BUY Yi Home camera. Its endless ads will drive ppl crazy.
