When I saw CX34 with i5 CPU, I thought it was a typo. I had to go back to Target purchase history to locate the receipt.

This Chromebook plus has no touch screen and average battery life.

So, the new version of CX34 has i5. The old version has i3.

The old version with i3 brand new was $280. Now the refurbished with a faster CPU and larger RAM is the same price.

- From my target receipt -

The specs of this "chromebook plus" with 16G RAM looks good. If I don't have a chromebook, I will probably buy for $250. If I have to pay $280 on a refurbished machine, I would do that on refurbished Windows laptop.

The reason you need more RAM on a "chromebook plus" is because you can turn on developer mode. Then the chromebook becomes a Linux machine. You can simulate Windows as well. It is called Virtual Machine. 16G RAM for Virtual Machine is not ideal but it is handy to install Windows temporary. Plus you get a lot of Linux software.

But if all you want is Windows, then just get a Windows laptop.

If you have old laptops being slow, you can just install Ubuntu. Then you don't need to buy a chromebook.

Very difficult to find 16 GB DDR. Thanks for this I was wondering what could be done with more DDR than 8 GB. My I5 does very well with 8. It never seems slow needing more DDR but I do not do Linux or Windows on it.

Double the local storage as well. I have the old target version two of them and they've been very sturdy for my kids. Previously an HP Chromebook in a metal enclosure was bent by weight of all the books/etc in their book bags and stopped working. These asus ones are plastic don't have have the fragile convertible touchscreen hinges so are much sturdier
