I got the A229 Plus 2ch on black Friday in 2023 ($179 at the time), but just recently got around to installing it. I went with the Sandisk Max Endurance 256gb (highest capacity for that card currently), and have been pretty satisfied so far. Updated to latest firmware, direct wifi connection is solid, picture quality is great and voice commands have been very responsive

Some people have chronic procrastination. It is a disorder and have a name for it. Not really nice throwing it on their face

It will overheat and stop recording if you're parked outside during the summer. Viofo will blame it on your memory card, then start blaming it on other things once they find out you have their memory card.

The camera itself was good when it worked, but once it overheats you have to power cycle it - or it will kill your battery.

I've switched to Wolfbox and have been a lot happier.

I am in Texas and park out in the sun. I have had no issue with mine in three years. YMMV

I'm glad yours worked, and I probably got a bad unit. Their customer service is trash, though.

Worth to pull trigger or wait till Black Friday. Maybe pro will be on sale? What's better alternative at this price. I know no cam is perfect

Because the 2-channel model is likely more popular. One downside to keep in mind for the 3-channel model is that it produces quite a bit more data. It needs higher bandwidth, meaning faster SD card, more heat, and also puts more stress on the SD card with the constant writes. The 2-channel model could be slightly more reliable.

Does anyone know if the mounts are interchangeable? I already have a mini 2 installed. Wondering if I can easily swap it without having to scrape off the old one

I've been wondering about this. My A229 Duo seemed to do fine when it wasn't Florida summer heat. Most of the time it would still record but the screen would be messed up. Sometimes it would lock up and I'd have to pull the plug on it. I even bought a brand new card with better specs than the Viofo card and it still did the same thing.
