These balls, different brand, have worked well for our family. Drying time is reduced and there may be less static. I also like never needing a dryer sheet. I'm a little surprised some of the commenters are baffled by the idea of this. Didn't your moms put tennis balls in the dryer with large stuff? That's American moming 101 stuff. The idea is that things that are fluffed around will dry faster than those stuck together.

Any difference between these and other options. I see 6 packs for like $6-7
I guess these are just 100% wool.So if the others are also 100% wool, I can't imagine there to be a differ nice aside from size and density. Not sure if NZ wool makes a difference than wool from elsewhere in the world.

I used dryer balls for a while. I didn't notice much of a difference. If you're interested, check out the Popular Mechanics article where they did real testing and found that the balls didn't do much.

I'm skeptical, but curious. Can someone explain the principle of how these improve softness or shorten drying time? Or is this more of a confirmation bias/post-purchase rationalization kinda thing?
The same way that throwing clothes in with a fitted sheet always results in damp everything after the drying cycle is done, but oppositeIf items are separated (the balls get in the way, giggity), they dry quicker

Closely examine these when you get them. The ones I received were obviously used with human hair stuck to them. WTF? How is this even possible?

Have you tried the scent beads in the wash cycle?

I have not but I wanted to replace the linen smell from dryer sheets and was hoping to recreate it with this

The more you add, the quicker the dry? Anyone know? Can I throw in 12 of these and get better results vs 3?

We switched from dryer sheets to dryer balls about a year ago and a few items come out with static, but overall haven't seen much difference. Does anybody know if these ever lose their effect and need to be replaced or are they good forever?

They work pretty well. I haven't noticed a significant reduction in drying time, but yhey eliminate most all static cling. If you have dry winters like we do there may be a little more cling than in the summer, but it's really not bad at all. We haven't used fabric softener or dryer sheets in years, and don't intend to ever go back.
