I think I see why there's so many Open Box units (returns):
"MediaTek Wi-Fi 7 MT7925 (2x2) + BT 5.4"

MediaTek's WiFi modules are a major source of pain for a lot of DIY builders. IIRC, they work well under a Linux environment but, the Windows drivers have yet to be 'sorted'.

I'd be trying to upgrade this to a BE200 module, ASAP (assuming it's not soldered in)

They are sort of different computers. The Lenovo is larger (albeit lighter) and has the Intel chip versus the AMD chip. The AMD chip generally has better CPU capabilities, but the Intel's integrated graphics are marginally better.

The largest reason to prefer the HP that I can see is the additional RAM (32GB vs. 16GB). Memory on these is soldered, so you cannot upgrade later. If you're wanting to hold onto the computer for a couple of years or more, 32GB of memory is probably a wise choice.

I wouldn't buy a new laptop with 16GB of soldered RAM nowadays, but that's because of my usage -- I run tons of browser tabs while I work. I ordered one of these HPs. I think I want to go test out the keyboard though before I commit. I type all day long for work, so that's a primary consideration for me. In that regard though, Lenovo keyboards are typically industry leaders.

Boo for 60hz non oled. And a little heavy for this type. Pretty killer price tho. Can even play some decent game on that 890m.

has HP worked out their build quality yet? their laptops were a joke, where price and specs were barely enough to go for, only to be surprised with a sudden hinge/fan/display connection failure.

I bought 3 HP OMEN laptops before and only used them as mobile workstations to RDP into them to do stuff. One of them simply broke the screen wire somewhere, when I opened the lid someday. It has some weird flimsy screen wire somewhere. It's out of warranty, and I have to use an external monitor now. But HP's business lines feel solid (Elitebook, Probook, Zbook).

The Intel chip is more efficient but the ram is not upgradable. you need to get the 32Gb Intel lunar lake chip but those are more expensive so the HP deal is better

just received mine, i like it and will probably return the ebay hp omnibook x deal from last week i also got. it was brand new and when i checked the total number of battery cycles, it showed it at 1

You don't need a 32 Gig Lunar Lake, because Intel doesn't list it as RAM, but it comes with 8 Gigs of GDDR6 dedicated to the GPU, in their 16 Gigs configurations.
If AI matters to you, the Ultra 7 with ARC 140v has twice the power of the HX37x series.
The AMD CPU is better in general, but the NPU and iGPU are better in the Intel.
