This is a pretty darn good deal. Big fan of Jomashop as a retailer, considering pulling the trigger on this but not sure if I need another submariner type watch.

I would say around $1K is about right on this watch. It uses an SW 200-1, which is a knock off of the ETA 2824-2. It's self-winding, 25-jewel, 28,800 vph. There are watches with this movement that go up to $3K and some around for $100ish. It's got gold, sapphire crystal, rotating bezel, and a bracelet that looks about right for the price point.

I've always liked this Oris watch and have tried it on in person. the price point is what made me not purchase it but this is a damn good price.

Can't understand why they didn't make this a proper diver with 200m WR.

Absolutely nothing. It's something upper middle class folks buy to feel like they're wealthy. Wealthy people don't get 'deals' on watches.

Does any diver actually use a "proper" dive watch anymore? Dive computers have taken over. I assume by proper you mean traditional. This will work just fine for my desk diving and swimming.

I feel much better in the water with a screw down crown and higher WR. Its a margin thing, not a deep dive thing.

This has a screw down crown. The 100 M is 328 feet. I think it'll survive.

I'm in no way questioning what you want. Just stating for the most part this is a quite capable watch.

Exactly! Most of us stay around 15-20' when snorkeling so 300' is good for the overwhelming majority of people. If you're salvaging ship wrecks you're probably not diving with an Oris dive watch.

Im a diver that owns a rolex sub and I'd never dive with it. My apple watch ultra and Garmin Fenix are superior in every imaginable as both dive computers and everyday watches. the only thing they're worse at is being something I could use to bribe my way out of trouble with at a dive site in the south pacific.

As are many material things we humans like. Obviously you don't appreciate watches... What are you doing here and commenting. Do you have time to burn or no common sense?

If you don't like or appreciate watches the answer is nothing. Oris has a long history in watch making since 1904. Thee made pilot watches in the early 1910s. Known mostly for their "Big Crown". Their latest development is the in house Calbre 400. It has a 5 day power reserve and a 10 year warranty.
