Not sure if soft padding is good for flights… anyone who travels with their clubs have any feedback?

FYI: Airlines will decline any damages to soft travel cases but will honor if they are in hard shells. I had to ditch my Ogio in favor of a Samsonite last year

If you pack the soft case the right way it should be fine. I have both a soft and hard case, and typically use the soft case when traveling overseas due to the smaller rental cars.

Take all heads off woods and put them inside the headcovers. Put them in your other luggage or in the pockets of your bag. Put all other clubs upside down in your bag, and also use one of the travel support poles.

I've traveled a few times with my soft case and a backbone (kind of an support pole/hard umbrella for your clubs) and haven't had a problem. Just my experience.

Take the head off your driver and woods/hybrids, if they come off easy.

Soft is the way to go, counterintuitive as it sounds. Hard case does nothing a soft case can't do other than not be able to fit in your rental car. Need to use a stiff arm though.
Comment about airlines is also not true, refused damages when I had a hard case. Never had any problems with a soft case.
Every pro golfer uses a soft bag, college teams, etc.
