I've used Amazon Resale for about ten years now, including buying a high percentage of lighting and plumbing fixtures during a new home build.
I have noticed an increasing percentage of scam returns such as someone returning their old Ecobee thermostat in the box their new one arrived in and someone returning a new wheelchair in the box belonging to a much nicer one. Amazon accepted both returns from me. I will most likely video record unboxing of expensive items from now on to protect myself. I'm not going to stop buying from Resale though as it still passes the cost benefit test.
I usually love these sales, this one in particular though is awful. Everything is marked way up and 15% off on everything I looked at. Will wait for the October day when hopefully more items are available and it's closer to the usual 30% off. Nice try Amazon.

Except there was a MacBook Air m2 for less than $600 after tax like $550 lol
I actually am typing this reply from one I got from a prior amazon warehouse sale. I did look and didn't see the macbook. I think they only had 1 or 2 and they probably sold as soon as that other thread was created.

They had over 20 sold out quickly tho
Nice. Mine came like new with applecare activated through March 2026
Junk and be wary about returning too much to Amazon-- you may get your account flagged or even closed.I've had bad luck with resale recently. I bought a DJI Action 5.... and someone had RESEALED a Action 4 in the box. It took almost a month and a half for Amazon to refund me, probably because it looked suspicious from their end.Not worth even touching this stuff unless it's ultra-cheap.
Same thing happened to me, bought a monitor, and someone put their broken old one in the box. I know it's a big company but those who do this should be punished, this is textbook fraud lol.

Amazon Warehouse used to be a source of good deals. Now it's just a source of disappointment. It's pretty much a social experiment on figuring out how much grime-y and beat up a product can be to trigger a return.

They're not even looking at the stuff that gets sent back to them before putting it up for resale. I had ordered a trailer jack; whoever returned it wrote the word DEFECTIVE using sharpie on the foot of the jack itself. It was sold as like new, damaged packaging. Wouldn't you know it, it actually *was* defective. Luckily they took it back without giving me a hard time, but I wouldn't be surprised to have someone send them back a box of rocks and them just turn around and sell it all over again without noticing.

At least some of you are getting versions of what you ordered. The last sale during Prime Day I bought a Logitech Bluetooth Keyboard in "like new" condition. I opened the packaging and found a box of rocks as ballast inside. Talk about fraud. I wish there were a way for Amazon to track these fraudulent returns. Someone above mentioned to start video recording unboxing. That's not a bad thought given the rise in this.
On the flip side, I found a M2 Mac Mini for <$300 essentially brand new on Prime Day too. Win some lose some.
i agree it takes time for refund, but its not hat risky. Last prime day i had ordered $600 and $200 item (monitor and memory). I got the refund in 20 days without much follow up after return. Take picture and video while unboxing, you are good
I feel like 20 days even with video evidence of fraud is insane. I expect better.
Man, I miss the days of getting awesome deals on Amazon warehouse deals..
The deals are still there. Prime day earlier this year was great. 25-30% off a lot of good stuff. This one is mediocre. One of my life goals is to learn more about how the Amazon algorithm decides what to discount and at what price with these events. It seems so random.

Having same problem recently after using warehouse deals for years. I just ordered hue lights from resale . I received the hue box, but someone just returned a no-name white led light (inside the box (the light they replaced, obviously) and Amazon resold it. Amazon doesn't appear to be making even basic checks on returned items - this was so clearly not the product pictured on the outer box
