Yeah that's nuts. if you look at the rtings review I think you'll see the u7k score higher with an 8.5 versus this set coming in in an 8.0 and you can still get the u7k for about $500 less for the 85 in.
I want to sendcore for ISF calibration training in South Dakota. I'm telling you I'm not sure it's worth the difference. I think Hisense is starting to mark up their products. one product that's just blown my mind though is everybody's screaming about the Nvidia shield and side loading and all that and the secret weapon this year is the and I thought I'd never say this is the ONN 4K streaming device which is 29 bucks and stomps all over my Roku Ultra.
It runs Android 14 and I even have as an experiment the on an 4K Pro which uses a slower processor and that's a $50 box. and yeah I'm going to take a lot of heat here cuz I know we get a lot of shield fans out there but I really don't think it's worth it for the price of the shield since they're going to come out with a new model this year. that's old Nvidia tech.
I often wonder if Hisense is starting to cheap out on their manufacturing quality now that they're becoming a popular brand. I've got a 2019 u9g that looks as good as some sets that are made today and there was a time when TCL was getting crushed by Hisense but I think TCL is starting to turn up the heat again. not on the Roku TVs but just for the hell of it. take a look at that. $29 ONN 4K plus it's got a 2.5 GHz CPU chip on it. 3 GB of RAM and 32 of ROM. and yeah it's not going to do a lot for you heavy intensive side loaders but for just people that are buying Roku and wasting their money on that man you can do just a clean install and side load a few apps on there and the Android Google TV interface is so much cleaner than roku's clunky proprietary operating system

They are not at the same testing bench, per rtings.
