"The lights are extremely annoying and I don't care for them. No big deal because the description says I can turn them off. Which is true. They can be turned off. But you can't turn them off and leave them off because it defaults to "lights on" mode every time your computer is powered off/on or every time it snoozes and wakes up. So it seems like I'm always having to turn off the lights."

This is actually crucial. Some speakers volume when turned on, start in the default loud level. Some like this turns on with the lights on. And you have to readjust every time its turned on because it has no memory of the last setting position. It is very annoying.
