This stuff is basically Rain-X from 20-30 years ago, when it was a durable product still made by the company that originally formulated it.

Since then, the Rain-X brand has been sold a couple times, and the current version could arguably be called Rain-X Lite, not as good as in the past in my experience. I've found the GG product is now more durable.

Griot's MSRP for this product has always been $9.99.

For whatever reason, Amazon typically sells it for ~$20, and since people continue to pay it, they keep it high even after being notified that their pricing is way out of wack.

They're also helped by the fact that the chain parts stores like AutoZone don't carry it any longer, so distribution is more limited. Either bend over for Amazon, or try to spend enough at Griot's to get free shipping or at least better amortize the shipping cost. Euro car owners can get it from a place like FCP without paying a premium.

Neither can match a product like Xpel for durability, but one pays for those single application vials, which are also counterfeited.

For what its worth, I have been using this for at least three years and versus Rain-X I think it lasts longer.

Rain-X is a smidge easier to use, but I have gotten better at putting the Griot's on and takes a out the same amount of time. Griot's works great on our glass shower door, too.

Tough to tell, but most likely a tweaked formula. Comparing their MSDS data, which doesn't mention the polysiloxane content, which is likely what both are using at least from my Rain-X knowledge.

this is actually MSRP for it. they've since come out with a ceramic version. durability hasn't been as good on the ceramic version as I'd like tho.

I had hoped this was formulated to coat headlight lenses to prevent degradation, not so, unfortunately.

Do you apply cross-hatch 2x as in this short video: https://youtu.be/DqDuCYBGE2c?si=cL786kd85HgZ9IqQ and is there anything in the few comments there that you disagree with? Do you use a clay bar before applying? Do you remove it seasonally? Thanks.

You need a headlight UV protectant for that. And those really help keeping headlights from turning yellow and foggy.

Last year I did a ceramic coating on my car and also put it on my windshield. The blades would chatter after it so I did my best to remove the coating from the windshield, although it still chatters a bit. Would this do the same?

The simplest and cheapest solution, IMO, is to wax your windshield. You'll repel the rain like Rain-X and it is MUCH easier to apply and you likely already have wax which is much cheaper than any of these. Nothing elaborate, apply a thin coat and buff off just like you would a door panel or other part of your car.
