Man, the sad thing is I started out as a Pokémon kid, then when Yu-Gi-Oh dropped I switched over, got great at dueling, and took amazing care of my cards. But of course, it's Pokémon that ended up holding its value and becoming what everyone wants now. I'm back into Pokémon collecting, but resorting to Yu-Gi-Oh packs to scratch the itch. Used my $5 certificate and scored 3 packs for like $1.30 with free delivery, acts as a little holdover until Phantasmal Flames drops.

Exactly the same as me except I also briefly got into Digimon and Duel Masters. Got out of Pokémon trading cards and into Yu-Gi-Oh! because of the opinion that Pokémon was for little kids. Though as an elementary school kid, I was once afraid of Yu-Gi-Oh! because of all the dark elements. Summoned Skull in particular always terrified me.

Growing older, I hated how other kids started calling Yu-Gi-Oh! "gay" and teasing us for playing the game, discouraging us from being associated with it. In my middle school during lunchtime, we would trade and duel each other in an open classroom full of nerds. In 8th grade because of the stigma, I would make sure none of my classmates knew I played the game (apart from a select few) since it was associated with nerds or younger kids.
