Amazon is planning to move these to their upcoming Vega OS (to replace Android) so they'll be trying to get rid of old stock. Could be a great time or a bad time to buy depending on how you look at it.

There were Palm, Windows Mobile, Nokia, BlackBerry OSes based on Linux. All are gone. The same fates are for Amazon Fire OS and its new DOA Vega OS. Stay away from monopoly system is the best.

Not sure. It won't be officially unveiled until Sept 30th but the announcement "leaked". Supposedly they plan to roll out Vega to select devices still in 2025. Older devices will still remain on Android for the foreseeable future. Not sure if you'll be able to update current Fire Sticks to Vega easily.

Stick with the long-term proofed tablet OS which last decades like Apple iPadOS or AndroidOS that are used by all big electronic hardware system manufacturers. Amazon devices are fraction of the market with a very bad Fire OS that why they want to switch to a new OS.
