I've owned one of these since Apr 2020 (so I could have good espresso through the pandemic). It sees regular daily use for two people, and it's never let us down.

This is cheaper than I paid 5 years ago.

Unfortunately I had the opposite experience with our motor failing at 13 months. Proper maintenance and everything. Bought a different brand that has lasted years now.

had to replace our burrs after 5 years, otherwise runs good. Retention isn't terrible. Biggest complaint is how loud it is and that the custom timing gets reset if it gets unplugged. Not sure how much more quiet other grinders are. Using for moccamaster and espresso.

I have the older model of this. It's gotta be like 12-13 years old. It's the best and keeps on working.

I had one that also had problems. Breville customer service replaced promptly. Great value grinder for espresso. The next level step-up grinders get spendy fast. When I upgraded my espresso machine (also Breville), I switched to a high end manual grinder and gave this unit to my daughter

I can't believe the price is still so highly for this. It's just about the worst choice at this price for an espresso capable electric grinder. Baratza would probably be the one to get. Just look around YouTube for reviews and recommendations.

cause there was no df series back then...df 54 with similar price beats this A LOT.

I too own an older model very similar and absolutely adore it. Daily usage with zero problems. Not the quietest thing but the output is SO consistent once you dial in the settings for your usage scenario or preferred type of brewing.

On AliExpress Search:

Professional 64mm Burr Coffee Grinder with 100 Grind Settings and All-Metal Chamber

You can get this for about $100 with the coupon. The current $15 off coupon is not valid until Oct 1st. The seller 'could' adjust price when coupon becomes valid on the 1st. I just 'gifted' this to a friend in Vegas. It was $101.xx AFTER Taxes and free delivery when I ordered on the 23rd of Sept. I believe that this is the SHARDOR. (Search that on Amazon) You have the ability to change burrs as well. Ironically, this shipped from Vegas to Vegas in one day. Ordered on the Sept 23rd. Shipped out on the 26th and delivered on the 27th!

Note: I started with the Smart Grinder Pro in 2019 with the Breville Dual Temp on a refurb SlickDeal to start my espresso journey.

I got this for $99 in TJ Maxx. A lucky find actually if you can see them.

I've got the older version of this for about 10 years now. I'm a big dark roast fan but on the rare occasion that I've ground light roast, the motor did struggle. I went so far as to hook up the Kasa smart plug with energy monitoring and saw that the harder light roast beans were making the motor pull like twice the wattage, don't recall the numbers, it was a few years ago. My biggest complaint is that with oily dark roast beans, I usually have to give it a couple shakes while grinding since the sticky beans like to get hung up and make it "dry fire". Throws off my typical multitasking coffee making morning.
