Probably fine for applying poly or stain, things that destroy a brush. If you're actually painting, buy Purdy and take care of it. Simply no comparison and they hold up for years.

I was going to say the same thing when I saw "pro grade" in the title. Wooster makes good brushes, too, and there are a couple others. You just can't get five "pro grade" brushes for $8.

I don't paint very often, but when I do, I'm not cleaning brushes when I'm done. The 89 cent chip brushes work fine for rough projects, and brushes like these if you care a little bit. But they all go in the trash when the project is finished. No cleaning. No color cross-contamination. That's worth a few bucks IMO.

These may be good brushes. I've also had good experience with Bates brushes on Amazon and they are even cheaper at normal price.

These are really good brushes. Comparable to Purdy. Try it. $8 is everyday price though.

I've gone through probably 50 of these pro grade brushes. They are really good and I use them for painting and just throw them away instead of wasting 30 minutes endlessly washing a higher quality brush. I use it for everything except where something needs to be applied very smoothly, like emerald urethane enamel that is applied to trim that needs that special touch

This.

If you do any sort of painting you want to take pride in, just get a good set of brushes and take care of them. Spend the money rather than buying cheap brushes and dealing with shit results and lost hairs and such.

Agreed. I learned this from a friend who was a professional painter in college and he taught me a lot of tricks. Between 2 Purdy brushes (small for cut in, large for painting) over 10 years, I've painted two houses and they still hold their shape and cut in perfectly without having to tape everything.

It certainly does not take 30 minutes to properly clean a brush either.

Cheap brushes certainly have their place for things like I mentioned, typical paint jobs aren't one of them if you know what you're doing.

What's amazing is that directly below the slickdeal post description is a chart clearly showing that this is in fact not a deal/discount/sale at all, yet it has been upvoted to the moon. It's not even a $0.01 discount.
