I have an old 34" acer curved monitor over my 27" inch OLED and its great for spreadsheets and word docs for work.
i wonder if this would be even better...
I was using the ultra wide for gaming but Its not good for anything competitive like shooters...but i think all i got left in me at this point is MMOs or open world games.

I've been using this monitor for work for the past couple of years, it's great

The real issue with ultrawides are the huds. Other than that, I can imagine the extra fov is hugely advantageous
I bought this as well from the costco deal. Was tempted to return and rebuy but given what some folks have said about their longevity I think the return policy is probably worth it. I use it mainly for productivity to replace my two 27" 1440p and I am super happy with it. There are nits (vignetting, black uniformity) but it's amazing to work on. The only thing I realized afterwards is when I share my screen in teams like I do often its...less than ideal. So I bought a 16" 1200p touch display from Amazon that fits perfectly below it with the stock stand. When I'm in normal meetings I put the video feed down there so I can work on the big screen, when I'm presenting I share that screen. Works amazingly and I can always stay looking at the camera. So happy with it.
Many older games don't support the resolution so you'll end up playing either in a square in the middle or with a super-stretched image, and have to go looking for some hack to get it to work right.
When games do support ultra widescreen resolutions, sometimes they arbitrarily just limit your resolution anyways so you can't use the whole monitor.
When they do support the whole thing, sometimes it's obvious they never really tested their UIs on this scale. Or they artificially limit the FOV slider. Mods and hacks for those too.
On top of that this resolution is very demanding on cards. My 2080 won't handle some games at this resolution on anything other than Low.
As far as productivity goes--it is like having two wide screens so you can do all the same things you can with a dual monitor. The one annoying part is that full-screen takes up the whole width, which for most applications and websites is not very useful. Your document will be in the center and then all of the editing tools will be split to the sides half a mile away.
Nobody can read this thing if I share the screen and that's also even more tax on my GPU if I'm streaming to a friend.
This monitor is an embarrassment of riches.
Having said all that--when it works, it works. I still recommend it to friends if they're looking for something extra. Just know you have to deal with quirks going into this format.

With the *right setup*, this is a god send for sim racers. Not so much for productivity as it is way too big.

I have this monitor, I use it with a 24 vertical monitor for slack/Spotify and a 27 2k above with news or whatever on (maps when im playing). its great if you use it as an ultra wide , effectively with two 27 screens. If you need to share your screen (zoom/teams ) you should shift to the side by side PIP the left side will be 2k 240hz and the right is 1080p (unsure of the refresh rate) .
I have an LG 45 inch with the same specs. It has USB C inputs and a great KVM switch. I think you would like that better for the same price. 200 HZ also.

Excel and everything else is awesome on the screen.
