You can compare it with the deal which was posted just a few days ago. It got thumbs up when it was more expensive than this: https://slickdeals.net/f/18632482-asus-rog-strix-g16-16-fhd-165hz-gaming-laptop-amd-ryzen-9-hx-16gb-ram-nvidia-geforce-rtx-5070-ti-1tb-ssd-eclipse-grey-open-box-1495-99?src=SDSearchv3&attrsrc=Thread%3AExpired%3ATrue%7CSearch%3AType%3Anormal%7CSearch%3ASort%3Arelevance%7CSearch%3AHideExpired%3Afalse
But like I've pointed out so many times, when other people post the same deal for less, it gets downvoted, like this one here. It is a good deal when you compare it to the previous price/post. The display is the only caveat, being inferior only when compared to other models or competitors but it's certainly not a bad one.

Agreed with Dr. W. This is a very good machine and deal. I don't think we have seen 5070 TIs much below 1500-1600 new and those were rare deals. ROG STrix G16 is also a very high quality machine in terms of the build and stuff. Screen gets bright, high refresh. Won't be AS pretty as some of the OLEDs, but also won't have any burn in issues so trade offs.

seems a good deal but asus reliability is bad. I had the same pc but 1yr older version with top specs, used it for 2 yrs and all of a sudden one day the gpu smoked and display went off (always used the charger which came in box), it still works with an external monitor but there the gpu is gone so its only integrated graphics now.

Asus couldn't provide and help and said mobo replacement will be $850

I am tempted by this, as this is one of the few ASUS laptops that offers upgradeable RAM.

This is a pretty good deal imo. The 5070 ti is a nice balance between power/price and the vram gives you some future proofing. When I had it, it felt solid just not super high end or polished. It's definitely more of desktop replacement.

I will say I think the display is pretty mediocre broadly speaking, but not bad by any means. It did not get super bright btw and that was my main issue. If it could hit 500 nits I probably would have kept it, but I tend to put a lot of emphasis on screen quality.

You can upgrade these panels if you're the adventurous type btw.
