Watts has nothing to do with the top end, that has to do with the gearing.

A 9 year old shouldn't be going 40mph

Im just trying to figure out if it is not too big of a size with suitable pedal reach. The kid has a 4-stroke 110cc mini dirt bike that can go 50, on paper. He rides responsibly.

the specs look super solid. bought an ebike with specs nowhere near this good a handful of years ago for more than this. Is this a legit site?

Check your local laws. For most people, this is either not street legal or requires registration, drivers license, insurance, etc. Street legal e-bikes have a max of 750W and maximum speeds of 20mph (throttle)/28mph (pedal-assist). Most states with moped laws limit them to 30mph, so this doesnt even fall into that hole.

A nominal 1500W/2hp and 40mph means this is either a motorcycle or not street legal.

In California, Indiana, Kentucky, New York, New Jersey & Michigan it is a motorized vehicle that requires registration, plates, driver's license, etc. This is assuming it has a VIN and even can be registered. I would be stunned if Gleeride was a certified motorcycle dealership.

So if you are someone that local police might give a second glance, this device exposes you to a lot of risk for operating an unregistered/uninsured/etc/etc vehicle.

Several states limit class3 ebikes (750W & 20-28mph max) to riders 14yro+. Class4 ebikes (>750W) generally require some form of drivers license.

You can do what you want on private land but on public roads he's one cranky LEO away from a learning experience.

As for size, this is going to be a "grown up" bike frame likely unsuitable for anyone under 5ft tall.

Who said he rides public roads? Private land, trails, and dirt bike tracks. I did not ask about street legality LOL
The last few words is all I needed, thanks!

These ebikes don't generally have a dealership type of setting where we can try the fit, hence my question,

Anyone know what the continuous (nominal) wattage is? 1500 is almost surely peak wattage.

Usually when a hub motor is rated at 1000w the peak is 1500w and vice versa.
