I will say they are quite sharp and even so you get a nice clean cut when applying spackle or putty.

have not rusted yet (Ive tried). My last comment the blade isn't straight, but for my use of diy weekend warrior and I'm gonna use and abuse.. these were perfect for the price.

The basic set will get you far...a small 3" joint knife for embedding tape, a 6" for going over that and a 10" or 12" taping knife for feathering out your joints. You could probably get away with just a 6 and 12...buy fewer tools but higher quality would be an ideal compromise. Everyone has their own opinion when it comes to drywall work!
