Hey Mr. Computer Doctor, should I grab this or perhaps wait for Thanksgiving time?

BTW, thanks for all your postings!

If you want a desktop replacement, i.e., an 18" gaming laptop, then this is the best deal out there right now.
But this should get a $100-$200 cheaper around BF. If you can wait, then I would advise you to, if this difference isn't that big for you, then you should buy it right now, again, only if you need an 18" device, as 16" 5080 laptops would get below the $1999.99 in the weeks-month to come.

Thanks for the advice. I need to buy two for the family so this might be the direction to go. I wanted to have Ryzen+Radeon but this is still quite good

The 5080 model of this sees CPU temps creep pretty close to 100 degrees Celsius. I would imagine it's essentially the same cooling solution for the 5070ti model and would expect the CPU to get similarly if not slightly less toasty due to the 5070ti using a bit less power. Personally that's hotter than I'm comfortable with a $2000 device running. No vapor-chamber onboard so the fans do all the heavy lifting for heat dissipation and it's a very loud machine under-load.

Screen is genuinely nice to look at with good response times and motion handling, but it lacks VRR support so no FreeSync or G-Sync support. Probably not a deal breaker but still a little odd for a $2000 device. It's not the cheapest or the best performing 5070ti laptop but it's around $900 less than the cheapest 5080 9i 18-inch from Lenovo (no 5070ti model) -I would argue the much better screen (OLED 4k 240hz), cooling, and higher-tier GPU are worth the extra $900 personally. Not to mention the dramatically superior build-quality.
