How do these compare to the ones from harbor freight during that one day sale?

Judging by the pics, this is closer to the Lowe's mini toolbox. The drawers don't slide out as smoothly as the Harbor Freight one because they don't have the ball bearing rails.

Can't say I have this one, but damn it looks to be identical to my harbor freight version. My local HF carries the mini boxes all the time now and they are $19. I wouldn't be surprised if they are made in the same factory, same size, magnetic close, and slides. Biggest difference I see is the Mernards locks and doesn't have the padded liners. Personally I wouldn't want the lock since I like keeping 2 stacked on my craft desk.

Harbor freight's have better slides with bearings. These are metal to metal.

Saying that these are similar to the Lowe's box is a little conservative - the photos are straight up just the Kobalt box photoshopped. You can even see how the back right corner of the lid is misaligned in exactly the same way as in the stock image of the Kobalt.
I like the US General box better - the drawers roll nicely and it comes with little non-slip mats for each compartment. The Kobalt box is stackable with the three-drawer variant though, which is cute.

I have both, HFT's are way better.

I looked at them all in the store. The Kobalt and Performax ones seem similar. They are significantly worse than the Harbor Freight one. The harbor Freight one feels solid and the drawers are smooth. The other ones feel like junk.
