The official page claims package detection. I would be surprised because it should be a software feature, not a hardware feature.
For this model black doesn't have package detection. White does, but is sold out.
Is that so?

I would assume they upgrade the hardware to a different version on what they currently ship at some point and there's either not enough CPU horsepower or firmware memory to add the code to the older version.
My advice is always to check the specs. I also checked to see if there's been a bump in the version hardware, if it's stated.

First, I bought a Reolink Duo 3 camera and a Netgear switch that does PoE, with the intention of setting it up on a recently-undeployed QNAP server running Surveillance Station.
Then, I thought, why screw around? I bought a Reolink NVR, with the intention of selling the old QNAP, and returning the Netgear switch. The sale of the QNAP server will more than cover the cost of the NVR, especially if I throw some drives in there, and I end up with more of a turnkey solution.
Finally, I decided, why not go whole hog? I bought a Reolink doorbell to replace my aging Ring doorbell. (Being wireless, it won't integrate with the NVR, but it has the latest, greatest features.) Saving $5 a month on Ring subscription, the new doorbell will pay for itself.
That's a lot of spending, but substantial Prime Day discounts helped ease the pain. So when you say, "I'm willing to pony up," my approach was to do exactly that. Good luck!
