Nope, no problem doing that.I preclear drives first (its a good test of the drive) and let it sit as an Unassigned Device. Once you are ready, stop the array and assign it and good to go.

Have you checked their prices lately? Granted I've only been tracking the WD HC530's but they are currently at $169.99. A year ago I got the same drives from SPD for $129.99. From what I've seen, used pricing has been consistently creeping up so it's refreshing to see deals again on new drives.

What is remux?
I think they're referring to a full quality copy of Blu-rays and whatnot. Very large files.

Is this shuckable? What drive is inside?
If it's the same as the one I got last time it was a white label. I did have to use a sata to molex converter to disable the 3v pins for my mobo to recognize it.

I use makemkv and I must admit the files are large per movie and I haven't used anything like hand brake to reduce them yet. I'm new to it but I wanna see what I can do to change the format.

I will admit that this is the lowest price I've seen this model.

Looks like shucking is back! Finally a price on a new drive that gives used drive pricing a run for its money. In for 2, thanks!
My last serverparts purchase was 12tb drives for $75, so not really.

16TB coming up $145.99 if you choose Used-like new. Is this too risky for this price?

Thanks, does this mean it could cause trouble to put the drive in the NAS?

It didn't for me, just had to use the adapter and it worked great!
