Great deal on the A119 Mini 2 - I've installed a half dozen of them for myself, spouse, and family members. They have a built in WiFi radio that allows you to download footage to your phone wirelessly after connecting to the unit's SSID. This is the cheapest I've seen them ($85.99) - I bought mine at $99. You'll need a decent high capacity long life SD card. Also note that Dongar sells wiring harnesses compatible with many car model's rear view mirror wiring - so a nice clean install without having to run a USB cable around the perimeter of your windshield trim. Looks like many of the Dongar harnesses are on sale for Prime Day as well.
I picked up two A119 Mini 2 for cars we use earlier this year
Used a cheap wiring adapter to tap into the rearview mirror power, so wiring is super clean
This is what I used for one of the vehicles (2013 Ford Explorer) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DHGX9FGN
For SD cards, I picked up two of the VIFO 256GB industrial grade. They were on sale+coupon, so 1/2 the sandisk equivalent option.
Regarding the A119 Mini 2. The ability to read license plate is near useless unless the car is stopped within a few feet of front bumper. Image is clear, just too low resolution.
Yes, I do have settings set full resolution with best quality
I have an A229 Pro in my car, no issues with reading plates.
I even held the A229 in same spot as the A119 in the explorer... it's so obvious the difference.
With that said, the A119's were cheap, easy to setup. No regrets, just don't expect $300 performance, from a $86 dash cam.

Do these dongar harnesses allow for 24 hour footage or only record while vehicle is on?

Not the ones I purchased - they are switched with the ignition. I do believe Dongar does sell a hardwired version though, that allows for continuous recording.
EDIT: Looks like this bundle contains the hardwire kit from Viofo.

My A229 Plus is 2yo and constantly rebooting every 30 seconds even without microsd card in it. Waiting for support to get back to me
This happened to mine, turned out to be caused by a bad wiring harness from a mirror tap. Replaced it and been rock solid since

Yep. My A119 V3 started randomly turning off after about 2 years. I can turn it back on with the power button but it will turn off again after a while. The one time I really needed footage, it had turned off and turned back on later.
The A329s can be had for $390 on ebay... search for A329s and filter by accepts offers and new. Send offer of $390 and you'll receive... also some minimal cashback available out there. Seller is Battery Boy
