Can play retro games up to SOME GameCube and PS2. definitely struggles with anything beyond that. Don't expect to up convert much in resolution. works pretty well for local streaming and internet based game streaming but has the same input delays that every system has while doing that.
pretty good screen
great controls
great battery life
Just temper your expectations on that processor within it's pretty outdated by now.
I kept mine for a little under a month and then sold it on. if you were able to add just a little bit more money to it there are some significantly better Android handhelds out these days. Check out retrogamecorps on youtube.

can this be modded to play retro games?
if you going to do this just get one of those devices. this thing is uselss
Why is it useless? Pretty much everyone that buys or reviews it considers it great for game streaming and older game emulation (not PS2). It has the best ergonomics, a good launcher, and a good screen. At $136 this is a good buy.
I owned this briefly and returned it. The screen is nice, but the dpad is atrocious and the face buttons have too much give to them.
I would not recommend this for dpad centric games (eg retro emulation). If you use it for its designed purpose (streaming) it's fine, but be aware that it only has WiFi 5.
I bought this for ~$200 used about a year ago. It has great ergonomics and is very portable, but game streaming which is its main use case is dependent on your connection quality, which limits its usefulness for travel. If you run the games locally, the CPU struggles as other said - I was getting maybe 5-10 fps in some later stages in Dead Cells for example.

Here's how I use it.
At home I have Apollo and Artemis to stream from my gaming PC with wake on LAN enabled.
And it's amazing. No lag either. I test lag by playing Madden and trying the kick meter.
I use PXPlay $7 app to stream from my PS5 and it's perfect.
I use XBXPlay $7 app to stream from my Xbox Series S. And it's perfect.
For Game pass, use the native app.
Love this thing for what it does.
You can emulate PS2 and below, but I don't do it because of my backlog of games.
