spend the extra money an buy a kitchen aid. the thing will last a life time. im still using the same one we bought 10 years ago. no issues.
Those are significantly more expensive though, and Gourmia is a reputable brand
I we will know after a year or two how the Gourmia holds up.

My Kitchenaid is making unfortunate noises right now. Sounds like some gears are about to go. I maybe use it once a month. I'm not sure the 'lasts a lifetime' thing is still true for this product. Is there any evidence that the newest ones are built to the same standards as the old ones?

The newer kitchen aid mixers that use plastic gears are known to have the above mentioned problems, you will need to change the gears
im not sold for at least 10 yrs now that kitchenaid is the golden standard necessarily for us american homes. maybe the 5-600$ ones... but there's bosch as well as electrolux.

Mine did this after I tried mixing a dough that was too tough. I opened it up and some of the teeth on the gears were broken off. Ordered replacements and grease from their website for under $20 and it's pretty easy to do.

Good to know. I'll definitely do the repairs myself. Just disappointed they went plastic on them considering the price and premium feel of the mixers.
