Great game that sucked me in for a couple of months with its melodramatic soap opera story, great mini-games, and amusing side quests.

Awesome game. As somebody that is not really into JRPGs usually, this was a fantastic time. Highly recommend it.

Probably the best game in the series. They've become way too experimental with the newer games, and they are starting to not even feel like Yakuza games anymore, just other games with Yakuza characters put into them. This in my opinion is the last great Yakuza game that has come out, until we see what they did with Yakuza Kiwami 3.

When I was getting close to the final battle, I looked at my timer and it was over 130 hours and I was like wow it barely felt like I played 40 hours. Was fantastic from start to finish.

for this title, no. you might miss out on some of the references, but the story will make sense even without the past titles. if you do intend to continue with the series, the next installment, Infinite Wealth has a lot more references to the prior titles, which would be much better appreciated if you had played the prior games.
