If you enjoy XCOM's battles, you will enjoy these games. The core gameplay of both is a lot like the battles in XCOM, with the first of the series being an excellent clone sprinkled with nintendo dust.
SoH has a brilliant evolution of the battle system that I enjoyed even more than the original XCOM and the XCOM-clone battle system!

Play Kingdom Battle first, the Sparks of Hope is a bit more open world and more enjoyable, but overall gameplay is the same. Season pass on these go on sale fairly often too
Great story lines, hilarious game, absolutely recommend.
$20 bucks for both is a great value.
