That is a lot of torque, especially on a mid-drive where it can be magnified by gearing.

I have heard of bikes cutting the motor during shifting at high torque (i.e. downshifting on a hill) to avoid damaging the transmission. That was on bikes with the envolio internal gear system, but its something to look for in a review.
