I've bought Nikon refurbished cameras twice and both times they've come looking brand new with a 0 shutter count. My last purchase was the z6ii

I will say that there's value in getting the newer camera though simply because you can expect more firmware updates while it's in your ownership.

If you already own Nikon and understand where this will fit into your system and understand the autofocus limitations, this could be a good deal. Probably not a great place to put $1K if you're starting out with this kind of photography - save up or wait for deals on a Z5II, Z6III, or Z50II instead.
