Absolutely atrocious with the 14900 in it. We bought this with that and a 5060 not too long ago and the battery life was sub 2 hours watching youtube etc with everything turned way down. REplaced it with the exact same laptop but a Ryzen 250 or 260 and battery life was 6+ hours.

Also given the chassis size/weight I'm not convinced you benefit much from a 5070/14900 in this because it can only move so much heat per second, and that 14900 eats up a LOT of the headroom that the 5060/5070 needs.

Personally would suggest the 950 5060/260 on Walmart right now. Also just noticed (crazy) that thing has extended holiday returns through Jan 31st... So it's not even locking you in lol.

Why would they bother giving them a battery if they're made to be plugged in 24/7?

Are laptops with this processor all bad processors even if you checking out youtube? Say you play a youtube video that is a song 24 hours nonstop. So it plays 2 hours and that is all?

And yet a lot of gaming laptops work just fine on battery and get decent battery life. This has a several generations old processor that was a pig even for it's time. There is nothing a 5070 can run that a processor half that size couldn't handle.

Like if ALL you do ever is game, sure fine, you aren't gaming on battery.

yes, and yes. It's just a very inefficient, very powerful processor dropped into a laptop and it can't throttle down deep enough to give decent battery life. Ditto the I7 14400 or whatever that comes in this laptop.

Do you think that Walmart deal is good? Can it handle most games at a decent frame rate?

I've been out of the PC space for awhile and my MacBook is aging, almost time for a new laptop and if I switch back I'm going with a gaming model. Likely have a budget up to $1500

If that is the case, what is the purpose of these laptops then? Only for people who game then? The thing is can't you turn off the rtx 5070 and use the non gaming graphics card and then it uses less battery? Or does that not matter? Or was what you said meant assuming you already switched to the less intensive graphics card? Thus similar to like how if you have an rtx 3050, well it mainly uses the intel iris xe graphics card as the main graphics card. So which graphics card does this laptop use my default? I assume this isn't intel iris xe graphics card? It's the amd one I read? So all legions have that one then? How is that compared to intel iris xe graphics?

What do you mean by the i7 14400 related to this?

My laptop is a dell xps 15 9520 with i7-12700h processor. It has intel iris xe graphics card and rtx 3050. It has 32gb ram and 1tb ssd. I know this isn't a gaming laptop but the battery for it I don't think was over more than 4.5 hours at the absolute max even when I got it new. It's more like 1.5 hours now though. I do know it uses the intel iris xe graphics card mostly when web browsing and youtube.

I don't do gaming like people. Well not that type of gaming. But people who game on battery, I got to assume get 2 hours battery at the most probably. It's probably an 1 hour or less?

So any laptop with this type of processor is useless for someone who wants to web browse and youtube? Can't you turn off the 5070 and use the other graphics card and battery get lot better? Or it doesn't matter due to the processor? I mentioned my laptop specs in my example.

What was the purpose use of this laptop for you? Do you game at all or none? So no gaming, this laptop is horrible right? What do you mean ryzen 250 and ryzen 260?

I mentioned my dell xps specs a bit above. Do you have any opinion on that? So this laptop is useless for people who don't game at all then? But if you plan to have it plugged all the time, then this laptop is good if you need use of the graphics card? How big of a difference is 5050 to 5060 to 5070 to 5070ti and 5080 and 5090? I have a 3050 and a certain thing I do, it would seem a 3060 or 3070 or higher would make it much better? It isn't gaming but a bit close to it where using the rtx as oppose to the intel iris xe graphics would make it better. Thoughts on this?

I'd say depends on what you use it for. I have a zephyrus with 13620h and 4070. When doing only productivity stuff, browsing or watching youtube, I turn off the dGPU, which gives me around 5-7 hours of battery life. When gaming and dGPU is enabled, the battery life drops to 1.5-2 hours max.
Its all about how you use the device. A gaming laptop comes with its challenges which you have to work around. You cannot expect a ferrari to give you 30mpg ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯

Microcenter is excellent, but Lenovo provides the warranty. I have never had a positive experience with their support, and I have to use it far too often.

This or the $1800 one? I mostly play older stuff: BG3, Cyberpunk 2077, Overwatch, etc. Would be nice to be able to play the Elder Scrolls VI at 60fps but who knows what kind of requirements that'll have.
