These are the step child of Apple MacBooks. A little more money and you can get the 14" M1 Pro which imo is way better and worth buying as it actually is a Pro. At the same and maybe less money, the 13" Air imo is better being a small and lightweight laptop.

This is an M1 MacBook PRO...
This MacBook may have a Pro name but It has the same processor as the 13" MacBook Air M1. It is a MacBook Air with a fan and touch bar. That's why I said it is the step child of the MacBook lineup. It is no where a Pro when considered to the M1 Pro in the 14" MacBook Pro.
Except the processor is akin to the m1 air. I think the forced cooling chassis, speakers and screen is the upgrade.
"Forced cooling chassis"....what sort of verbiage is that? It's called "a fan".
The Macbook Airs do not have a fan. It's a corner Apple cut to save a few cents.
The Macbook Pros include a fan. It's because laptops get warm when doing thing, and need to be cooled so they don't throttle down under the most basic workloads. It's something found on literally EVERY OTHER laptop made (except for the ones emulating Apple's corner-cutting methodology).

I tend to agree with you, I'd rather buy the 13" air for its lightness, or the 14" pro for its power and screen. This 13" pro is the worst of both worlds, added weight with little benefit. Coming from the 13" m1 air, I have never felt the need for the Touch Bar or active cooling.Still it's a very capable machine and if someone's looking for this as their main laptop, they won't be disappointed.
