Of course, right after I buy the Ryzen 4500, they put the 5500 on sale for basically the same price.

I paid $87 for this on Friday. Working with Amazon to get this price.
I could just return/replace it but that would be extra work.

Amazon never did partial refund. I am pretty sure you need to return it then repurchase it.

Good luck.

Please pair this with a x16 GPU and not an x8, as this is PCIE3 limited and would run at PCIE3x8 if you did!

I got a $25 amazon credit. Not worth the extra $7 to return replace for me.

This has a way better memory controller than 5600 but less cache, and can reach 5600's stock performance with a beefy memory overclock, don't try that with B350 though, won't go past 3400. Best aida latency I was able to get with B350 is 68ns, the ceiling on later am4 mobos seems to be high 40s, way better than 5600's. Some stutters you get on memory OC'd 5500 will be unavoidable because of not enough cache, just like how some stutters on 5600 will be unavoidable because the latency is too high, and the memory speed is too slow, which one is better for you just depends on what game you play. This is cheaper, but then if you're losing money on samsung b-die that's inflated in price due to not being made anymore, or getting a newer AM4 mobo, you're not really "saving", just get the 5600 when the price for that drops.

I think you are confusing the 5500 with the Zen 2 3600. The 5500 is not a better CPU than the 5600 or 5600x. The L3 cache on the 5600 is double that of the 5500. 32mb vs 16mb for the 5500. This makes a big difference when gaming.

I said 5500 has a better memory controller but less cache. 3600's aida latency tops out in high 60s with 3733 memory speed on b-die if you get lucky enough on your memory controller and infinity fabric overclock, 5500's in high 40s (lower ns is better) with 5000s on good bdie. Look at overclock forum posts on both. 5500 has a better memory controller than both 3600 and 5600, and it's monolithic.

Nobody that knows AMD processors would believe a word of what you said. The Zen 2 3600 can run memory at 3600mhz or 3800mhz all day. The 5600 is a 5600x if you OC it. The 5600 can run memory 3800mhz with any timings of your choosing.

Most people believe 3600mhz DDR4 memory speed is all you need. I think 3800mhz is where you want your memory speed at.

I had a hunch it was coming so I bought the 4500 but opted for longer delivery time. Just cancelled and bought this
