Only one room at one property on each eligible paid stay is counted toward a Member's eligible paid stay for the promotion. In most cases, stays are posted to the Member's Account within 10 business days after checkout. After the completed stay posts, the 2,025 bonus Points on each eligible paid stay at properties participating in Marriott Bonvoy will generally be awarded to the Member's Account within 5 business days. Each eligible Homes & Villas by Marriott Bonvoy® stay will earn 2,025 bonus points plus 2,000 additional bonus points, for a total of 4,025 per stay, during the promotional earning period. Eh I got a week free oceanfront in Aruba last summer so not exactly useless

The usefulness of points depends on the use case and where you want to say. That said, Marriott has about SEVEN times the properties as Hyatt, so all things equal, chances are you'll have many more Marriott properties than Hyatt in a given location. If a property doesn't exist where you want to say then yes those points would indeed be useless.

I would say no.

First, this question always comes up with these promos and the answer is, IIRC, always no.

Second if you read the T&C it says:

"Marriott Bonvoy Members who register for this promotion between October 14, 2025, and December 27, 2025, will earn 2,025 Marriott Bonvoy bonus Points on each post-registration eligible paid stay, up to 3 stays, at properties or destinations participating in Marriott Bonvoy during the 74-night promotion earning period.......Only eligible paid stays completed after promotion registration and during the promotion earning period will qualify for any bonus Points earned with this promotion."

It seems all they mention is that you need to register for the promo before the eligible stay ends. Nothing about reservations at all.

Lastly, it would be pretty impractical to have a promo where you need to make a reservation after registering - that would generate a lot of useless traffic as properties/reservations are cancelled and rebooked en masse.
