Based on Bose open-sourcing some of their tech ahead of EOL, I find new respect for them. I still own zero items made by them but this is a good move to entice me to support them if this trend continues.
These don't get loud enough these bose ones are nice I am going to return because they slide in my head to easy unfortunately I like to lift weights with them so of I lay down or bend over they feel like they are going to all but I like the sound very much

Apparently they don't teach punctuation in gym class.

Amar Bose donated most of his stock in Bose to MIT.
Their Acoustimass systems allowed people to get 5.1 sound for under $500. Their loudspeaker like 901 series etc were staple at many venues, as their headphones in aviation.
Our human brain is not an oscilloscope and processes sounds differently, and appreciates a harmonics and other aspects which Bose focussed on (how sound is perceived, and not whether it is perfect signal reproduction).
The negative press they get is because of competition.
I just bought these off of eBay, refurbished for $66, and am waiting for them to arrive.
Had the Bose QC Ultra Gen 1s for a while, but they felt very plasticky, had constant connection issues, and no matter how long I set the auto turn off function to, if I set them down for more than a few minutes, they would turn themselves off, and I would have to go through the whole boot up. The only workaround I could find through support and forums was to delete the Bose app, which wasn't something I wanted to constantly do. They were very comfortable, but I have a pair of Sonos Ace that were even more comfortable. The sound quality of the Ace is a little below the Bose, but they don't have the same connection/power-off-randomly issues I had with the Bose, and after a few updates, they now have ANC/Transparency modes that are Sony/Bose level.
Taking a flyer on these to have 80-90% of Bose sound quality to complement the Ace

I own these. They rock. Got them black friday. The noise cancelling ALONE is worth the hundred clams. My ONLY complaint, is they fall off my head CONSTANTLY. They're just not tight enough. But if you're just walking around and not bending FULLY forward anytime, they're fine. I use them vacuuming, doing dishes, ans they remove a TON of the noise. And those complaining about the bass and what not, you can tune it in their app, and before you do THAT,.make sure you turn LDAC on. It is NOT ON by default. We listened to these for a day before we turned LDAC on amd we were like 👀👀
Got these for my daughter for Xmas. While setting them up I was able to tried them. Cups were soft and the headphones were overall comfortable. Clarity and bass was great for their $99 price point.
Bass is not as good as my Sony XM4s but better than my Bose Quiet Comfort
