The Ooni Koda 16 is a gas pizza oven that shines for fast, restaurant style pies and enough room to handle bigger cooks. The larger size gets praise for quality and flexibility, and it can turn out Neapolitan, New York style, and even other baked dishes with the right flame control. It does take practice, though, with peel handling, dough prep, and planning ahead for ingredients and accessories. The price also feels steep for occasional use, especially once propane refills and supplies are factored in, making it a better fit for frequent pizza nights.

Common Questions (4)

  • At $399, it can be worth it if you'll use it regularly or want the larger 16-inch format; the bigger oven is described as adding quality and flexibility. It may not be worth it if you only plan to make pizza occasionally, since setup, LP refills, ingredients, and weather can limit use.

  • Yes, it can do NY-style and other thicker-crust pizzas by adjusting the flame and cook timing. A common approach is to preheat, run about 3/4 burner for NY-style, then turn the burner off briefly so the crust rises and crisps without burning.

  • There is a real learning curve, especially with dough handling and launching. Dough often needs to be at room temperature or fully thawed, and many people plan ahead with a 3-4 day cold rise plus a peel, semolina or cornmeal, and a turning peel.

  • It can fluctuate in stock, so refreshing and retrying may help. One update noted it was back in stock but repeatedly disappearing and reappearing during refreshes.

Love my koda 16, the difference in quality and flexibility with the bigger oven is well worth it.

I would do the same if I used it more. Mine might just go on FB without a replacement

"Gas powered" doesn't sound right. I think could just say "gas pizza oven" and it would make sense. Unless this thing can be driven??

I know the brand its good quality and all but, just couldn't convince my self pulling the trigger at this price either. Isn't it a bit too expensive for what it is?

I agree - it's price point even on a big sale is a bit high . I love pizza , but for how often I could use this given weather in my region and schedules. It'd have to be Half this to even consider it. They're all over FB marketplace for a reason. People just don't make pizza enough to justify refilling LP tanks, grabbing all the ingredients , and weather permitting .

I've realized a lot of people have big dreams for this, use it once and realize they don't know how to get the pizza not stick to the peel and don't bother after that. I've actually gotten 3 in the past few years for between $125-250 in brand new condition. I'm just not a huge fan of Neapolitan pizza(kept thinking I would give it another try for the price) and prefer a pizza steel in an oven all day. Much better flavor IMO

I've found these make good NYs if you heat to 3/4 max temp and kill the burner for the first ~5 minutes of cooking.

I use mine all the time. I paid $60 for a 55lb bag of 0000 flour enough to make like 200 pizza's. Pizza's around me are almost $20 each. I love mine.
