French's Worcestershire in a gallon size is a versatile pantry staple for marinades, Bloody Marys, steak, burgers, deviled eggs, and party mix, with the big draw being how far it stretches for heavy cooks. The sauce is described as lasting for years in the pantry, fridge, or freezer, and some refill smaller bottles from the gallon without any taste change. The main drawback is the corn syrup ingredient, which is a deal breaker for some. It is a practical bulk buy if the flavor fits your cooking and storage space.

Common Questions (4)

  • It works in Bloody Marys, party mix, deviled eggs with horseradish, and as a savory umami boost in recipes that call for a tablespoon or two. It can also be mixed with ketchup and mustard for a dipping sauce.

  • Yes, this bottle contains corn syrup. That is a deal-breaker for some shoppers, while others do not see HFCS as a problem compared with sugar.

  • It can be kept in the pantry and reportedly stays fine for years; refrigeration is optional if you have space. Some store it in the fridge or freezer for maximum longevity, while others refill a smaller bottle and leave the gallon unrefrigerated without flavor changes for years.

  • For heavy use, a gallon can last about 6 to 8 months, and lighter use can stretch it to several years. Examples include using it for Bloody Marys every 6 months, marinades for about 8 months, or taking roughly three years to finish two liters.

Thanks! This will actually come in handy for me. Years ago, I started making party mix for my husband's employees around the holidays. It started as just a little something (all male mechanics) and they loved it to the point they started asking him every year if I'm going to make it again. Even guys who've left text him to ask if I'll make them some. This year, he went from managing a team of 7-8 guys, to shop foreman and now has 65 guys. So, typically I make 3-4 huge batches and use 2 regular size bottles of this stuff. This year may take the whole gallon. 😁👍👍👍
Recipe or it didn't happen. Wink but for real.....sounds good.

If this was Lea and Perrins I'd be all over this deal!
Agree. I have no idea if French's brand Worcestershire is any good, because I've always used Lea and Perrin for everything and I'm almost out of my $10.48 L& P subscribe and save gallon bought April 22, 2021.

I've never refrigerated the gallon, I've just refilled a small 16oz squeeze bottle for 4yrs now, and that 4-1/2 year old Lea and Perrins still tastes exactly the same to me as "fresh" Worcestershire sauce.

I'm old school. Gotta be Lea and Perrins. I usually go with the 2-pack at Costco... unless a better deal pops up somewhere else.

I mean this is basically straight preservatives. If there's room in the fridge that's where I'd keep it, but I don't think it's really going to go bad in the pantry!

I wish we'd see more deals on L&P, but when we don't Costco is prob the best option.
That's where I usually get it too.

That's very true, but is it a worthwhile exchange to trade years of loss of refrigerator/freezer space for $4 savings?
Its like the people who boast about how many years their restaurant size of saran wrap from Costco lasts. Cooler, most of us don't have kitchen storage space for that just to save s few bucks.

I go through a gallon of this for Bloody Marys every 6 months, and it's Great! Switched from L&P for the huge savings.

Could I mix this with ketchup and mustard for a dipping bbq sauce?
Sure, it'd probably be good with Mayo too. I mainly use this for marinades but will do stuff like you said too - we like it in the house

L&P, A1, some melted honey, fresh cilantro and scallions with some salt & pepper is my go to steak marinade.
How different is the taste from L&P if it's used with other ingredients?
