Are the wheels so small to make it more portable?

Just Bought this for my kid on eBay for about $250 plus tax after a coupon . Tried it myself and was pleasantly surprised. I doubt there's anything better for the money. My 12 year old can drive my 8 yr old around very well. Wish it had foot rests for passenger but I'm sure I can find something.

Bought this same bike for my 13 yr old son a few months back and it has been a lot of fun. My only concern is getting spare parts. The tires are already getting worn down and will need to get replaced soon.

This should be true of any vehicle - Smaller radius gives it better acceleration but lower top speed. Small tires are more portable which is convenient but at the sacrifice of comfort, range and top speed. Larger tires go over bumps better, while smaller tires can offer more maneuverability. Always a trade off, but smaller is not necessary a terrible thing. Larger is generally more desirable if you go long distances.

Should we be worried about the battery on these, doubtful they meet safety standards, worried about fires?

I saw one similar at Costco. About same range but lower weight capacity 220lbs and not foldable. Doesn't work for me. I don't know if it's safe to buy from ali. Don't want to end up searching for parts and diy fixing.

I can confirm. On a similar ebike I tried riding up a drive way but the pavement was maybe a 2 inch high difference and flew palms out. Lucky for me I took the damage and bike looks new. Just like a scooter you have to be careful with cracks or bad roads. Still use it around the city when I'm bored. For battery combustion concerns it does come with a paper on how to plug and unplug the charger from the battery.

I'm late to the party, but others may be interested in the other deal.

Or a direct link to the one I got today (11/1) for about the same price but has a slightly bigger battery...

I am curious if anyone is an experienced user of ebikes: I have heard that the actual mileage you usually get is about 50 to 60% of what is advertised. Any comments?

I own an escooter and Ebike and yes, it's mostly true that the range is much less than advertised.

There are so many factors that could reduce the range like weight of rider (+ items they carry), terrain, slopes, and battery life to name a few

My escooter says it can do 12 miles but with my weight and like 4 up-down slopes I have to get past to reach work, it goes down to 5 ish miles

So definitely set expectations on the advertised range

Had a flat tire on my rear tire. Pretty standard bike repair. Just with a wire connected to the hub. Replacement batteries cost about as much as the bike, but the bicycle parts seem pretty standard to me. That's how they keep the price down.
